About
I'm Charles Cisco, and this is my blog. Here I'll share what I'm thinking about and working on for both archival and (hopefully) edification purposes.
At present, I'm living in Richmond, VA with my wife and two children and working at a Christian classical school as a humanities teacher, training students to study the Bible, ancient philosophy and rhetoric, and the works of the early church fathers. Before coming to Richmond, I completed a PhD on St. Paul's philosophy of freedom and slavery in his epistle to the Galatians at the University of Edinburgh and earned masters degrees at Edinburgh and Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, AL.
Currently interesting to me are classical pedagogy, the intersection between education and technology, and (somehow still) the Pauline epistles. Having done work on Paul's rhetoric of freedom and slavery and its intersection with ancient Stoic and Platonic philosophy, I'm now considering his language of justice and its relationship to middle Platonism.
